Hyundai Run 2012: More than a FREE run..
Last April 2, 2011, celebrating it’s 10th year anniversary, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) organized a RUN for a CAUSE benefiting Gawad Kalinga, HARIBON Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and St. Scholastica’s Priory. But what made this RUN stand out from all the others is that it was FREE for the 24,000 registrants! YES! A true gesture of sharing success to other people.
Guess what? Hyundai RUN for a Cause is back on its second year! BUT, from last years’ four beneficiaries, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) decided to double it this time!
This time, there are 8 beneficiaries who will benefit from the 8 advocacy they are promoting. Registrants to the run may choose which of these 8 they want to support and their singlets, will match the color of their chosen advocacy.
Plus, AGAIN for the second time, they are giving it for FREE
That’s just too much sharing love to the community! Kudos to the Hyundai Team!
Anyway, I was lucky to be able to register for this run! I actually support women’s and child’s health
YES to woman empowerment.
So here are the details of the run in case you missed it:
Hyundai Run for A Cause
Where: Quirino Grandstand
When: April 29, 2012
Race Categories: 5K and 10K
Beneficiaries:
- Younghusband Football Academy for Youth Development Through Sports
- Haribon for Environmental Sustainability
- Department of Tourism for Filipino Heritage and Pride
- PUP Hari Scholars for Education
- WILOCI (UP) for Women and Children’s Health
- Philippine Children’s Hospital for Community Development
- Gawad Kalinga for Social Entrepreneurship
Given these, if you are wondering why would a car company be so much into corporate social responsibility just like me.. well, their answer to the question is this:
“It is our hope that activities like this RUN will inspire and generate a change in business mindsets: shifting from going for the bottom line of an excellent sales performance to fostering a genuine spirit of social entrepreneurship, a culture of caring and sharing that boosts business growth and performance. We hope to create a new generation of thought leaders who will take on the challenge of fostering goof corporate citizenship on a wider scale and shaping a culture of genuine caring and cooperation for social and economic advancement.”
Hyundai Run for A Cause: it’s more than just being a FREE run. It’s so much more.
Let us help support Hyundai in their advocacy. Spread the word. They will be having booths with representatives that runners can talk to and learn more about the foundations. Runners may also sign up for volunteer activities if they opt to.

My Experience at Blog the Beat 2.0
Last March 21, 2012, I had the chance to attend Blog the Beat 2.0. Thanks to Cheryl for always tagging me along.
First things first, I’m not the really sociable type when it comes to people.. Of course, that includes my difficulty in starting a conversation and introducing myself. I always feel shy and intimidated. I was scared to be rejected and all. So basically, Blog the Beat 2.0 was a big challenge for me.
At the Blog the Beat 2.0 registration site, we were given a name tag, an information sheet and a “blogger scavenger hunt” paper. The “blogger scavenger hunt” contains 11 questions that describes a blogger/bloggers inside the room. All you need to do is start approaching each blogger to find out who will fit in that description. And, you must know what their blog url, and what their blog is all about. In short, I NEED to start talking so that I can fill in names on the paper.. and start asking. First 5 to complete the paper gets a special prize.
Thanks to a description that said “a blogger who attended the first Blog the Beat” I had my first name on the paper. Hello to teacher Cheryl
And the hardest part came. Cheryl started talking with other bloggers, and I was left alone. So I had no choice, I started to approach people. One by one I tried to talk to them, to some, I was only able to say few word, just my name and what I blog about.. but to some, I had real conversations with them.
I’ve also met the writer for When In Manila, the other blog I’m writing for. It was nice finally meeting fellow contributors in person.
Mitzi Uy, it was really nice meeting you!
It felt really good to have at least overcome my weakness–even if its just for a day. And I want to really thank Blog the Beat for giving opportunities like this.
Here are the people I’ve spoken to.
Hosted by Mr. Judah Paolo, Blog the Beat 2.0 shared their upcoming music events to the bloggers. Happening this April 21, 2012 is the most awaited concert by The Planetshakers, Israel Houghton and New Breeds at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Of course there were bloggers who shared their experiences in blogging, how they have started.. and how they reached where they are now. Mr. Ganns Dean shared on how he got interviews to famous artists. What are the do’s and don’ts. I learned a lot from what he shared and I really admire his enthusiasm.
And how will i forget the raffle time! So much to give away!
Thanks to Istudio for the Ipod shuffles!
Congrats to all the winners!
Truly, Blog the Beat 2.0 was a very enriching and enjoyable experience for me. I hope there would be more events such as this, not only pushes bloggers to interact but also get to know and share their experiences as well.
Oh and I won the scavenger hunt!
Thank you so much!
My new ipod shuffle
