Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2011

My grandfather is 78 years old and is a runner. He ran marathons during his younger years and continues to run until now (except less kilometers due to his age). When he knew that I started running, he was the first one to feel really happy. He would always invite me to register with him or most of the time, he does the registration, then just informs me that we are running.

Anyway, he went out of the country last last week and told my mother to ask me to check the marathons in Singapore. All she said that it was sponsored by Standard Chartered.

And so I check the internet about it, and this is what I saw. Check website here.

The largest and most established race in South-East Asia, Marathon Singapore 2011 is back for the the 9th year running.

Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2011 is organised by the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and the Singapore Athletic Association(SAA), which has been held annually since 2002 achieving record participation numbers every year. From 6,000 participants in 2002, to 24,000 to 2005 to 50,000 in 2010, and the estimated 60,000 runners this year, truly this running event is awaited by many! And not only that, Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon is dedicated to help the  less fortunate by raising funds for selected beneficiaries. Through runners can raise funds for their preferred charities! Makes it even more motivating to run and finish the race!

I wish to run at this race in the future, I don’t know when, could be this year, could be next year.. But whenever that may be, what’s important now is I know that this race exists.. and it’s just 3 hours away from here.

  1. Let’s run together 🙂

  2. Can’t wait for that! Fresh air Singapore!!

  3. I wish i can fly there! 😦
